Phinki is a six-chapter supernatural horror novella drawing inspiration from cosmic horror and South African Urban Legends which delves the issue of gender-based violence and domestic abuse in the country.
A woman who carries the Iso Elibomvu while in the direct presence of abuse or danger will summon Okuphinki. Be warned, this entity seeks only to cause pain and suffering. It is a friend to no one.
Six women, six stories:
- Thando Ndelu: A woman abused by her husband.
- Akhona Dala: A woman stalked and harassed by her ex-boyfriend.
- Jordan Fourie: A woman kept in her apartment by her girlfriend.
- Amanda Smit: A woman abusing her husband.
- Tasha Naidoo: A university student living in an apartment who is about to be raped by the building's owner.
- Sophie Visser: A self-mutilating high schooler who contemplates suicide, with no help from her father.
