When the hardy pioneers arrived, the land was covered by dense forests that had to be conquered for the communities to survive. Forestry, logging, and lumber were the main industries for more than 100 years. This volume contains more than 200 vintage black-and-white images, many of which have never been previously published. The rugged history of Clallam County is told through photographs of the land and geography, the lives of the first settlers, and stories of the East End, Central, and West End sections of this northwest corner of the state of Washington.
